- The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Research Triangle Park, NC intends to award one or more Purchase Orders for a research project that focuses on specific in vitro studies that will provide potency estimates of cellular and molecular alterations that may be induced by perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs). The research goals are to obtain potency estimates for 19 PFCs in 5 separate invitro assays as follows: 1) Rat liver mitochondrial toxicity; 2) Rat fetal lung growth; 3) Neurotoxicity; 4) Steroidogenesis in isolated rat hepatocytes and Leydig cells; and 5) Insulin secretion in isolated rat pancreatic islets. Each assay will require evaluations of each PFC at several exposure concentrations in order to provide sufficient information to analyze exposure-response relationships and to estimate potencies of each PFC in each assay. This is a firm fixed price requirement and will be issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) under Simplified Acquisition procedures in conjunction with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items. The RFQ package - DLI60131 - will be issued on or about 02/13/06 and will be due on or about 03/10/06.
