Description
The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Ocean Service (NOS), Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary (FKNMS) has a requirement for two (2) vessel mechanics. The period of performance is for a base period of twelve (12) months with four (4) twelve (12)-month option periods. The contractor(s) will work with the FKNMS Lower Region Maintenance Operations Coordinator and other staff based in Key West to perform the following tasks related to the maintenance of the FKNMS vessels and trailers listed below. The work will be typically based at the Foster Center Complex in Key West, with other work settings in various locations in the Lower Region of the FKNMS, Long Key bridge to the western boundary of the FKNMS. The tasks will be as follows: Task 1: Maintain and or assist in maintenance of all Class III (NOAA Small Boat Program designation) research vessels including, but not limited to: (1) Irene C, a 61? Hatteras; (2) Dante Fascell, a 53? Key West No. 1 Hull; and (3) R/V Cooper, and a 41 ?former USCG aluminum hull. In addition, maintenance of the smaller boats (dinghy) carried aboard these boats (NOAA designated class A vessels) will be required; Task 2: Maintain and or assist in maintenance of all Class II (NOAA Small Boat Program designation) vessels including but not limited to one 28? Gulfstream used primarily for damage assessment work; Task 3: Maintain and or assist in maintenance of all Class I (NOAA Small Boat Program designation) vessels; Task 4: Assist in maintenance of law enforcement vessels in the Lower Keys including but not limited to four 30? Manta Racing Law Enforcement vessels; Task 5: Assist staff when necessary in maintenance of Sanctuary buildings, docks, and grounds; Task 6: Travel to repair a vessel. Location will typically be performed in the Lower Region of the FKNMS, Long Key bridge to the western boundary of the FKNMS. Request for Proposal (RFP) No. WC133C-06-RP-OO71PY will be issued on or about February 28, 2006. The NAICS code for this acquisition is 488390.
