- NASA/GSFC plans to issue a draft Request for Proposal (DRFP) for the follow-on to NASA's SEWP Procurement (formerly known as the Scientific and Engineering Workstation Procurement). SEWP contracts offer state-of-the-art computer system technologies, high-end scientific and engineering capabilities, peripherals, and network equipment. It is anticipated that SEWP IV will award multiple commercial firm-fixed price contracts. The SEWP procurement includes major components (Category A comprised of 5 classes of Computer Systems in a full and open competition as follows: Class 1-Mass Storage Servers, Class 2-Database Servers, Class 3-Visualization, Class 4-High Performance Compute Servers, and Class 5-Science and Engineering General Services. It also includes Supporting Equipment (Category B which is comprised of 6 classes in both full and open, service disabled veteran-owned small business (SDVOSB) set-asides and small business set-asides). Category B classes are as follows: Class 6-Visualization Supporting Equipment, Class 7-Mass Storage Devices-(SDVOSB), Class 8-Networking, Class 9-Supporting Equipment-Small Business, Class 10-Security Systems and Tools, and Class 11-Multi-Function Devices. The NAICS Code and Size Standard are 541519 and 150, respectively. The anticipated release date of the draft RFP is on or about December 15, 2005 with industry comments and inquiries due January 06, 2006. The anticipated release date of the final RFP will be on or about January 27, 2006 with proposals due March 13, 2006. The anticipated award date is early to mid July 2006. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the agency. An ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note "B". The solicitation and any documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will reside on a World-Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
