Description
Westat is issuing this notice under a subcontract with the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) under Cooperative Agreement No. 1 U01 HD052102-01 for participation of clinical sites in the Pediatric HIV/AIDS Cohort Study (PHACS) Initiative (PHACS). PHACS is sponsored by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) in collaboration with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD). The overall goal of the PHACS initiative is to address continuing critical research questions on the consequences of fetal and neonatal exposure to antiretroviral (ARV) chemotherapy in a representative cohort of HIV-exposed, uninfected children from the United States (U.S.) and the clinical course of perinatally-acquired HIV infection in adolescents. The initiative involves two prospective observational studies. The first is called Surveillance Monitoring for ART Toxicities Study (SMARTT Study). It is designed to assess the long term safety of fetal and neonatal exposure to prophylactic antiretroviral chemotherapy, as recommended by current U.S. Public Health Service (PHS) guidelines. The second is called the Adolescent Master Protocol (AMP). It is designed to assess the effects of perinatally acquired HIV infection in adolescents. The HSPH intends to award subcontracts during the Summer of 2006 to support domestic sites to conduct the SMARTT and AMP protocols. The earliest award date is expected to be on or about August 1, 2006. The complete RFP contains detailed information on preparing the technical and cost proposals, the evaluation criteria, and additional background information. Interested parties are invited to request the complete RFP by sending an email request to the party named below. The proposal due date is April 10, 2006, 5:00 P.M. (Eastern Time). Proposals will be evaluated in accordance with the evaluation criteria by an Ad hoc Peer Review group.
