- Description
- The National Park Service is seeking contractors to cleanup downed material on the Natchez Trace Parkway resulting from Hurricane Katrina. In August of 2005 Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Mississippi Gulf Coast. High winds associated with this storm also caused significant damage to portions of the Natchez Trace Parkway, a unit of the National Park Service. Some of the work has already been addressed by Parkway crews, but significant work remains to be accomplished. The work required in this procurement is intended to restore the Parkway to its pre-Katrina appearance and includes debris removal from the mowline area, removal of hazardous limbs, stump grinding, clearing trails, and vegetative fuel reduction in one of the Parkway campground areas. The contractor(s) will be required to remove all material and haul away to an approved disposal site. There are five project areas included in this contract and contractors may bid on any or all of the five areas. Note that multiple awards may result from this solicitation. Project Area #1 runs from the southern terminus of the Parkway to milepost 87 in Adams, Jefferson, Claiborne and Hinds Counties, Mississippi. Work in area 1 includes debris removal, stump grinding, hazardous limb removal, and opening of a 7.7 mile segment of trail, all at an estimated magnitude of between $50,000 to $100,000. Project Area #2 runs from milepost 87 to milepost 147 in Hinds, Madison and Leake Counties, Mississippi. Work in area 2 includes debris removal, stump grinding, hazardous limb removal, and opening of a 23 mile segment of trail, all at an estimated magnitude of between $100,000 to $200,000. Project Area #3 runs from milepost 147 to milepost 181 in Leake, Attala and Choctaw Counties, Mississippi. Work in area 3 includes debris removal, stump grinding, and hazardous limb removal, all at an estimated magnitude of between $100,000 to $200,000. Project Area #4 runs from milepost 181 to milepost 245 in Choctaw, Webster, Clay and Chickasaw Counties, Mississippi. Work in area 4 includes debris removal, stump grinding, and hazardous limb removal, all at an estimated magnitude of between $100,000 to $200,000. Project Area #5 is the Jeff Busby Campground, located at milepost 193 in Choctaw County, Mississippi. Work in this area includes vegetative fuel reduction of approximately 200 acres at an estimated magnitude of between $100,000 to $200,000. This procurement is a total small business set-aside being conducted as an Invitation for Bids. The applicable NAICS code is 113310 with an associated size standard of 500 employees. This notice is not the solicitation. The solicitation package will be available on or about March 2, 2006, with original bids due on or about April 4th (see solicitation for exact date bids are due).
