Description
The subject Combined Synopsis/Solicitation that appeared on 2/09/06 is modified to answer the following questions and to extend the Response Date to 02/22/06. 1Q. Do you have a system that satisfies specs or one you know that exactly fits specs? 1A. No. The specification is written to include a typical, off the shelf 10,000 lb-f capacity universal tensile testing machine. 2Q. Is switching between Eng and SI units during a test necessary? 2A. It is not necessary to switch between units during a test, but it's necessary to change units before the test. 3Q. Explain "display panels must be printable". 3A. After the test, hardcopy of plot will be printed. Plot need not be a "screen capture". The plot could be developed during post processing, but the data that was displayed on the screen needs to be replicated in hard copy form. 4Q. Where is copy of ASTM F1157-2004 available? Are these a simple quick release grips? 4A. ASTM F1157-2004 is available through www.astm.org. In general, ASTM F1157-2004 does not specify the fixture to machine interface. Rather, F1157 specifies the interface features between the seal and fixture. For example, F1157 specifies a round bar with 1/4" diameter be used to test a wire seal. The fixture standardizes the diameter so the wire seal is forced over a defined radius during a test. Note, the 1/4" diameter cited is only an example. F1157 does not specify "quick release grips", that are typically used in coupon testing.
