- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the Chemical Science and Technology Laboratory, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis under authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1), with Molecular Devices Corporation of Sunnyvale, CA for a Blue Laser Kit upgrade to the NIST owned GenePix 4200A scanner. The upgrades are internal to the GenePix scanner and can only be done by authorized Molecular Devices service personnel, using Molecular Devices parts. Special tooling and training (available only from the system manufacturer) is required to align the new laser to be collinear with the two existing lasers in the system. Sole source determination is based on the vendor?s proprietary knowledge of the set-up of the GenePix 4200A scanner. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations, however, responses received by March 7, 2006, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
