Description
The Office of Naval Research (ONR), Arlington, VA, will conduct a workshop on the mornings of the 14th and 15th of March 2006 to discuss Interface Ramp Technologies (IRT) concepts in preparation for a future solicitation under the Seabasing Future Naval Capabilities (FNC) program. The goal is to pursue technologies which would enable vehicle transfer, via an advanced ramp system, to a landing platform through the high end of Sea state 4. The advanced ramp system will consist of a lightweight ramp section (a reduction of 30-50% from today?s ramp systems) with integrated advanced connections and active motion compensation. The objective of this workshop will be to discuss desired performance metrics and operational goals, the envisioned science and technology focus and to solicit industry input regarding an effective acquisition approach, risk reduction/mitigation, technology insertion, and other related issues. The goal of the IRT program would be to contract for the design, production and demonstration testing of a full-scale prototype. The workshop will start at 8 A.M. Eastern Time on 14 March at Strategic Analysis, Inc located at 3601 Wilson Blvd, One Virginia Square, 6th floor, Arlington, VA 22201. The tentative agenda for the meeting includes: Day 1: ?An introduction and overview of the program including expectations and metrics as well as past and ongoing efforts. ?Previous at-sea vehicle transfer test results. ?An operator?s viewpoint and expected challenges. ?Acquisition program needs and the expected utility of this system. ?Day one will conclude with a Q&A session at the end of the morning and will adjourn for the day. Day 2: ?A wrap up and additional Q&A session. ?The opportunity for each potential offeror to provide a one-on-one ? hour brief to the government on their capabilities and possible concepts will be provided. The workshop will conclude after the end of the one-on-one briefs and is expected to complete around noon on the 15th of March 2006. All briefings and any discussions will be unclassified. To facilitate meeting planning, each company/entity attending the workshop is required to submit a completed registration form on all planned attendees. The maximum number of attendees per company/entity is three persons. The registration forms can be found on the ONR website under http://www.onr.navy.mil/events. Registration forms must be received no later than 3 P.M. Eastern Time, 07 March 2006. No substitutions or additions will be allowed after this date and time. Please submit the registration forms to: Louise Rice, Director, Conference & Events, 703.588.2826, RiceL@onr.navy.mil or Joan Pfeffer, ATS, Inc.
