- The Veterans Affairs Denver Distribution Center, in support of the VA?s Prosthetic Clinical Management Program (PCMP), is contemplating the issuance of a solicitation for the fabrication and repair of upper extremity prostheses and related evaluation/prescriptive services. The information submitted in response to this announcement will be used for Market Research purposes to determine sources for this requirement. Performance of evaluation/assessment services may be required at any of the VA?s Medical Centers throughout the United States. The contractor shall provide a team of experts to evaluate and prescribe the most beneficial artificial limb based on the veteran?s medical condition(s). The team will include at least one certified Prosthetist and a certified Occupational Therapist. The contractor shall fabricate all artificial limbs in strict conformance to the prosthetic prescription that has been provided and approved by the VA Amputee Clinic Team. Contractor qualifications include: A full-time American Board Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABC) or Board for Orthotist ? Prosthetist Certification (BOC) practitioner who is qualified and has specialized training and is current in the state of the art and/or experimental myoelectric and electric systems, and the designs and components used in these systems and the fitting of these prostheses. In addition, the individual must have a minimum of three years experience. The Occupational Therapist must be certified by the American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc. and must be trained in myoelectric and electric systems, CAD/CAM, and/or educational seminars (through NAAOP), AAOP, AOPA, IAOP (or a formal program which is specifically designed to train Prosthetists in the fabrication of these sockets) specific to the fabrication and servicing of these components. In addition the individual must have a minimum of three years of experience. The contractor?s facilities shall be approved by the Facility Accreditation Program of the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics, Inc. (ABC), or the Accredited Facilities Program of the Board of Orthotists/Prosthetists Certification (BOC).
