Description
The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) have a long history, dating back to 1997, regarding the design, fabrication, testing, marketing, and licensing of the "Frostless" electric heat pump for the residential market. TVA?s Residential energy right Program promotes the marketing and installation of conventional residential electric heat pump HVAC units. Consequently, electric heat pump HVAC systems represent a large percentage of the residential market in the TVA service area. During the winter heating season, however, the "Frostless" technology addresses numerous matters of consequential importance to the energy right program when applied to conventional electric heat pump units by providing the following benefits: ?Stabilizes air flow temperature during the defrost cycle ?Eliminates the "cold blow" affect during the defrost cycle ?Indoor resistance heating during the defrost cycle is not required ?Frost accumulation on outdoor coil, if any, takes appreciably longer ?Resulting energy savings during defrost cycle, 1KW used vs 13KW ?Operation, efficiency, and reliability significantly increases owner satisfaction Description We are interested in response from original equipment manufacturers (OEM) to participate, along with TVA and Oak Ridge National Lab (ORNL), in design, testing, data acquisition, and licensing of ?Frostless? technology. You must possess the following: ?Many years of operating experience ?A well established reputation ?Highly recognized and regarded as an OEM to manufacturers of electric residential heat pump HVAC systems Daniel S.
