- Description
- Over the past several years, Sandia National Laboratories in collaboration with DHS partners, have developed significant capabilities to help our nation restore critical facilities following the release of a chemical or biological warfare agent (CBW). This work has focused on the development of a systems approach to restoration, with the objective of reducing the time required to restore critical facilities, filling data gaps that are important to the restoration process, and the development of specific technologies to enhance the restoration process. One of these technologies is the Building Restoration Operations Optimization Model (BROOM). BROOM is a software tool designed to improve the speed and efficiency of cleanup operations following a CBW agent release in an indoor facility. This multifaceted tool is intended to aid in the collection of surface samples, guide characterization and clearance efforts, manage collected data, and provide a visual interface to this data. A beta version of the tool, developed under the DHS-funded Biological Restoration Domestic Demonstration and Application Program (DDAP), is now available for testing, evaluation and partnership opportunities. Partnerships are anticipated to take the form of Cooperative Research and Development (CRADA)Agreements and/or commercial licenses. CRADAs are anticipated to include funds-in to the Labs and rights licensed may be up to an exclusive right in a designated field-of-use, depending on the business case. Sandia is seeking partners with demonstrated experience in translating technologies into market-driven products, have relevant technical capabilities and competence in the subject matter, are fiscally sound and well managed, and can commit to product manufacture in the U.S. Copyrights have been secured on this technology. Interested parties may contact Teresa Montoya, Sandia Administration, Fax: 505-844-8011; e-mail: tmontoy@sandia.gov.
