Description
Air Force Research Laboratory, Manufacturing Technology Division of the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate, (AFRL/MLM ) solicits research proposals for the Affordable Weapons' Datalink Insertion (AWDI) Program. The objective of this program is to develop, demonstrate and implement advanced Manufacturing processes and practices that demonstrably reduce cost and mfg. cycle times associated with the transition of emerging weapon data link systems into Air Force munitions SDD/LRIP/FRP programs. Focus will be toward the pursuit of aggressive product and process technologies that can dramatically reduce WDL fly away costs from their current baseline to below $5000/unit by FY10. The primary transition target for this effort is Small Diameter Bomb Increment II (SDB-II). However, solution applicability to multiple systems is a premium and interim transition onto other PGM systems (i.e. JASSM) prior to FY10 is also highly desirable. A successful program will result in commitment to fully implement the developed processes and practices as well as a transition plan with SPO buy-in to incorporate the improved WDL product and processes onto their respective system. . Interested offerors may view and/or download the full BAA solicitation by accessing the Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps) homepage at http://www.fbo.gov/. Direct questions to the Contracting point of contact identified in the announcement. NOTE: THIS NOTICE MAY HAVE POSTED ON FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (26-JAN-2006).
