Description
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) seek sources for commercially available portable radiological detection systems. The information received may be used to publish a ?CBRNE Radiation Detection Equipment Guide for Emergency First Responders?. The equipment identified by potential sources may be Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products or mature emerging technologies/prototypes. Equipment submitted should be single-man portable, rugged, easy to use with minimal set-up time, and capable of operating on COTS batteries or on rechargeable batteries with a minimum of 4 hours operating time between charging cycles. The equipment is expected to be used in a wide variety of first responder scenarios to include package inspection and area search. Interest includes detection of all types of radiation including gamma rays, neutrons and charged particles. Instruments that require samples as well as stand off detectors are of interest, provided they are portable. All equipment suppliers are encouraged to submit information even if equipment is limited in scope, e.g. gamma-ray detection only. The ability of equipment to classify/identify radiological materials is also of interest. ****** This notice invites sources for mature COTS products and emerging technologies/prototypes. All sources provide their respective information and specifications to the Government free of charge and at their own risk. This notice is not a Request for Proposal (RFP), and the Government will not award any contract on the basis of information or specifications provided by the potential source. Potential sources should submit their information and specifications to the following address no later than April 24, 2006: Battelle Eastern Science & Technology Center, Attn: Rick Arcilesi/Joe McClintock, 1204 Technology Drive Aberdeen, 21001-1228. ****** Points of Contact-- Dr. Alim Fatah, 301-975-2753, NIST-OLES; Joe McClintock, 410-306-8563, Battelle; Richard Arcilesi, 410-306-8514, Battelle. ****** Please email your questions to arcilesir@battelle.org or mcclintockj@battelle.org.
