Description
Notice of Solar America Initiative Technical Exchange Meeting Contracting Office Address U.S. Department of Energy Golden Field Office Mail Stop 1501 1617 Cole Boulevard Golden, Colorado 80401 Description This is a Special Notice: The Department of Energy’s (DOE) Solar Energy Technologies Program (SETP) is announcing a Technical Exchange Meeting to facilitate external contributions to planning for the Solar America Initiative (SAI). The goal of the SAI is to make electricity generated by PV systems cost-competitive with other electricity sources by 2015, promoting commercialization of 5-10 GW of new grid-connected generating capacity by that year. The objective of the Technical Exchange Meeting is to obtain input from industry, academia, and government on the technological barriers and procurement strategy of the Solar America Initiative. This meeting will focus on the discussion of critical issues whose resolution will have a significant impact on shaping both the program and the resulting solicitation. The key mechanism used to accomplish this objective will be a series of breakout sessions to be held during this two-day event. The first day of sessions will focus on technological barriers and solutions, and the second day of sessions will focus on procurement strategies. This Technical Exchange Meeting will occur in Chicago, Illinois, on April 18-19, 2006, at the following location: Hilton Chicago 720 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60605 Tel: +1-312-922-4400 The meeting will be open to participation by all external organizations on a space-limited basis. Due to this limitation, only two representatives per organization will be allowed to register for this meeting. Therefore, interested parties should register as soon as possible. Background reading materials, draft agenda, hotel information, and an online registration form may be found at http://www.sentech.org/SolarTEM2006/index.html. Interested parties are encouraged to download these materials, and also to read the DOE SETP Notice of Program Intent (NOPI), DE-PS36-06GO96021, at https://e-center.doe.gov/.
