Description

***The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Amersham Biosciences, in Piscataway, NJ for the purchase of One (1) AKTA Purifier System (Part# 13470301) and accessories.*** ***The required purifier shall be used in collaboration with other NIST scientists for data collection and analysis utilizing an identical purifier. The identical piece of equipment is required to ensure that data and results are comparable and reproducible. Sole source determination is based on the need for this instrument to be identical to the existing equipment. Amersham Biosciences is the sole manufacturer and sole distributor of this equipment *** ***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 6 weeks after receipt of order.*** ***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 339111, and the size standard is 500 employees.*** ***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by March 24, 2006.*** A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
