Description
TENNESSEE RIVER LOCKS GROUNDING TESTS SPECIFICATION 1. Scope The contractor shall prepare a plan(s) and conduct lightning protection ground tests and inspections for Chickamauga (Single), Fort Loudon (Single), Guntersville (Double), Melton Hill(Single), Nickajack (Single), Pickwick (Double), Watts Bar (Single), Whee ler (Double), and Wilson Lock (Double) Projects. The contractor shall submit a test report within two weeks of completion of each Lock, including any comments and recommendations. The Government will evaluate all data and the contractor is not required t o perform any corrective actions/installations. The contractor shall provide their own sketch of the grounding test points with the final report and can assume that there will be approximately 80  100 points for a single lock and 160-190 points for a dou ble lock. Criteria for inspection points shall be as follows and will include all, but not be limited to the following listing: ***1. all exposed electrical and communications equipment visible on top of the lock wall and surrounding area; ***2. all electrical enclosures, raceways, j-boxes, conduit, etc., visible on top of the lock wall and surrounding area; ***3. all non-electrical equipment (handrails, flagpoles, light poles, camera towers, antennas, fences, etc.) visible on top of the lock wall and surrounding area; ***4. the electronic service entry to the lock. Requirements - all tests must be conducted with a digital ground tester; - conduct an earth resistance test using the Four-Point method in accordance with IEEE standards; - perform soil resistance tests to establish grounding points; - perform current (ma) check on all ground conductors; - perform ground test on ground grid, gates, fences, handrails, light poles, floor mesh, transformers, haulage and other equipment with exposed metal on top of the lock wall and surrounding areas.
