- NASA Headquarters will conduct a Lessons Learned Workshop for PI-Led Planetary Science Missions in anticipation of the upcoming Mars Scout Announcement of Opportunity (AO). The Workshop is jointly sponsored by the Mars Scout, Discovery, and New Frontiers programs in the Planetary Science Division of the Science Mission Directorate. The objective of the Workshop is to discuss with the community the lessons learned from past and current PI-led planetary missions that may be applicable to future AOs and future missions. The draft agenda includes Status of PI-Led Planetary Science Programs (Discovery, Mars Scout, New Frontiers), TMC Lessons Learned, Development and Implementation Lessons Learned, International Participation, and Perspectives from Principal Investigators, Project Managers, Implementing Institutions, and Industry. The Workshop will be held at the Sheraton Hotel in Crystal City, 1800 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, Virginia on April 11, 2006. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m.; the Workshop begins at 8:30 a.m. and adjourns by 5:00 p.m. While advance registration is not required, it is highly encouraged to facilitate NASA's planning. Names and affiliations of those intending to attend should be sent to PI-Lessons@hq.nasa.gov no later than April 7, 2006. A detailed agenda and other logistical information will be provided to all those who register in advance. The Workshop is open to all individuals and institutions. All expenses and arrangements for attending this meeting are the responsibility of the attendee. Travel and associated costs of attendance are not allowable as a direct cost under another Federal Government award, i.e., contract, grant, or cooperative agreement. Government employees may attend and be authorized travel and associated costs as a matter of official business.
