Description
This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities(FBO) page located at http://www.fbo.gov/ and the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line(NECO) site located at http://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the Navy Sea Systems Command. The Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) has a requirement to structurally upgrade the ADM-1 and ADM-2 Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs) to allow for launch and retrieval operations and safe storage onboard a sea frame to support fleet tests and exercises. Currently the crafts? lift points and slings are qualified for hoisting weight in accordance to navy practice. The full load condition weight is higher than the hoisting weight of both crafts, thus the requirement for upgrade. These upgrades will increase structural integrity of both USVs as well as ensure safe storage of these USVs onboard a sea frame. NUWCDIVNPT intends to award on a sole source basis a firm fixed price type contract to Willard Marine because they are the original equipment manufacturer of these crafts and uniquely qualified to perform this work. They designed, installed, tested and certified the craft lift points in accordance with Navy standards and they possess unique knowledge of their craft?s hull structure and its integrity. The Statement of Work contained in the Request for Quote will provide further detail of the requirements. The solicitation will be released on our website or about 04/05/06. All other timely offers will be considered. NAICS Code is 541330, size standard is $25M. For information on this acquisition contact EILEEN EMOND at 401-832-1482. For further information about all NUWC Division Newport acquisitions visit our web site at http://www.npt.nuwc.navy.mil/contract/. Our department no longer issues solicitations or amendments in paper form. Instead, they may be accessed at our web site http://www.npt.nuwc.navy.mil/contract/. We also provide electronic access in our Bid Room.
