Description
It is the intent of the National Library of Medicine (NLM), to negotiate on a sole source basis with Indiana University and the University of Cincinnati for continuation of services for the consumer health website, MEDLINEplus. Both Universities were previously issued awards under a competitive contracting mechanism for services using a custom database input system and unique guidelines to select, maintain, and classify health information. Both Universities provide professional health sciences librarians. The continuation of services will provide the National Library of Medicine the Universities? staff knowledge of the World Wide Web and consumer health information resources to select and maintain resources for MEDLINEplus. The Universities will continue to provide the following services: (1) creation and maintenance of consumer health topic pages by evaluating potential Internet health resources for inclusion; (2) following detailed rules for creation of database records using the methodology described in MEDLINEplus Site Development Procedures; (3) review topic by giving feedback in electronic format to the Government?s Official. The Universities? staff are certified and trained to provide these services. Both Universities can provide these services beginning immediately and meet the accuracy standards of the NLM. The proposed acquisition will be procured under FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisitions. This notice of intent is not a Request for Quotations (RFQ), nor is an RFQ available, however, all responsible sources may submit a proposal which will be considered by the NLM. Firms interested in responding to this notice must be able to provide professional service as stated above. Responses should sufficiently demonstrate the firm's ability to meet the government's requirements. Responses are required within fifteen (15) calendar days from the publication date of this notice.
