Description

The National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the Biochemical Science Division, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1), with ISee Imaging Systems of Raleigh, NC for a quantity one (1) each of Ludl BioPrecision 120mm x 100mm XY flat top stage non-encoded, and quantity two (2) each of Ludl motor controller/drive micro stepper and one (1) Joystick XY. Sole source determination is based on the following: NIST currently has an existing ISee Imaging system that is custom designed to fit onto a Zeiss Axiovert 200 microscope. NIST is purchasing a motorized sample stage from ISee Imaging Systems to upgrade the existing microscope to an automated microscope. ISee Imaging is the only company that is able to install and control the automated stage due to the use of proprietary software. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, responses received by April 05, 2006 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
