Description
This is a request for information (RFI) only*. It is not a solicitation nor does it guarantee a solicitation will be issued. This is an RFI for a lightweight sensor. The USAF Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Battlelab, located at Creech AFB NV, is interested in demonstrating an off-board sensing reconnaissance role using a lightweight sensor on a small air-launched Unmanned Aerial System (UAS). This vehicle will be used for low level tactical target finding and tracking. The sensor must have electro-optical (EO) and infrared (IR) capabilities in full motion video and real time. Low light, IR marking, laser marking, laser designation and ranging capabilities are also desired but not required. The sensor must be space stabilized and have the resolution to see a 0.5 meter target at a 3,000-5,000 foot slant range. The total sensor package, to include all associated electronics, must weigh 12 pounds or lighter. The sensor should be able to operate with 50W of DC power or less. The sensor must be able to operate in an austere environment. Interested parties are encouraged to submit a capabilities package in response to this RFI. Capabilities packages should describe your capability to provide the lightweight sensor with the technical thresholds described above. Additionally, capabilities packages should describe if the sensor is a mature technology (e.g., has it been fielded/sold in the past, or is it developmental?) and provide company information (includes company size, point of contact information, etc.). Responses to this RFI are due no later than 1600 Pacific Time on 29 March 2006. Responses are requested not to exceed ten (10) pages. Please submit responses to Captain David Huber at david.huber@nellis.af.mil, 1Lt Micah O?Neal at micah.oneal@nellis.af.mil, and 1st Lt Lisa Ohrenberger at lisa.ohrenberger@nellis.af.mil. Please direct any questions about this RFI to Captain Huber at (702) 652-3366 or 1Lt Micah O?Neal at (702) 652-5401. * Submission of any information in response to this RFI is completely voluntary, and shall not constitute a fee to the government.
