Description

This announcement is not a request for proposals. The Bureau of Reclamation Snake River Area Office intends to issue a sole source contract with the Idaho Department of Fish and Game. The purpose of this contract is to provide funding to Department of Idaho Fish and Game (IDFG), as the lead implementing agency, to go towards installing and operating weir traps on various tributaries to Deadwood Reservoir for the purpose of population monitoring of adfluvial bull trout which use the reservoir for overwintering and rearing habitat. IDFG is the state agency which has the responsibility to enforce regulations and manage fish and wildlife populations in the state of Idaho. There is no other state agency or private company that possesses the same legal authority for fish and wildlife management in the state of Idaho. Within the general public there is no commercial use of the method or information gain utilized in this study. This information will be used solely to manage fish populations and meet the requirements under the in 2005 Biological Opinion. In addition, all capture and handing of fishes in the State of Idaho requires compliance with State of Idaho law. The Department employs staff members who are trained and federally permitted for the capture and handling of ESA protected species and are trained and permitted for capture and handling of recreational fish species in the State of Idaho.
