Description
The US Army, Tank-Automotive Armaments Command – Picatinny intends to solicit and negotiate on a sole source basis, under authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c) (1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1 (a) (2) (ii) – Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements, to Armtec Esterline, 85-901 Avenue 53, Coachella, CA 92236 to provide for the improved development of the 120mm Advanced Configuration Combustible Cases. The candidate Casings will undergo testing at the contractor facilities to validate improved structural characteristics and candidate Casings will be supplied to the Government for testing to validate improved rough handling characteristics. This effort will require the manufacture of candidate combustible casings using advanced cartridge case configurations for testing by both the contractor and the Government, a.), to investigate the applicability of advanced combustible cartridge case configurations (CCC) to120mm large caliber direct fire ammunition utilizing combustible cartridge cases (CCC) and, b.), to investigate and validate any increase in robustness that the advanced cartridge case configurations may provide to 120mm large caliber direct fire ammunition. This development effort will investigate the feasibility of fabrication of combustible castings for large caliber direct fire ammunition with an emphasis in advanced case configurations for increased case robustness. The contractor shall manufacture and deliver to the government designated facility no less than sixty (60) advanced configuration combustible cartridge cases within a period of 180 days from date of contract award. Any responsible/interested sources shall submit their qualifications and capabilities within 15 days of this notice to: Commander, US Army TACOM-ARDEC. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION AND DOES NOT OBLIGATE THE GOVERNMENT TO ISSUE A SOLICITATION. Please be advised that the Government will not pay for any information submitted under this announcement.
