Description
This Federal Business Opportunity Announcement is notice that TRICARE Region 6, 7 & 8 which includes 46 Military Medical Treatment Facilities (MTFs) in the states of Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Texas, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming are initiating the standardization process for the product line of HOSPITAL PLASTICS to include but not limited to water pitchers, drinking cups, emesis basins, bed pans, wa sh basins, urinals, sitz baths, specimen bags, etc. The intent of this standardization is to establish regionally preferred sources for hospital supply items and to standardize purchasing of these products for the MTFs. Additional TRICARE Regions may ele ct to join after the award. Clinical Product Teams (CPTs) will evaluate this product line. CPTs are composed of healthcare workers who have expertise and knowledge of the product. They will review and technically evaluate the products submitted. TRICARE Region 6, 7 & 8 deems the CPT members to be medical experts. Therefore, they are qualified to determine which products are acceptable. Their recommendation can be accomplished by literature review, presentation, demonstration or clinical evaluation. Compan ies interested in having their products evaluated for possible inclusion in the standardization process should carefully review the stated requirements below. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS are as follows: 1) Are the products durable? 2) Are products free of sharp e dges? 3) Are lids/caps easy to secure? 4) Are products latex free? 5) Are non-toxic, color fast dyes used in the products? 6) Are products sturdy and non-collapsible? 7) Are the use and function of the products easily identifiable? 8) Do products ha ve an accessible area for easy application of the patient ID label? Is the company 9) Able to serve all MTFs in the regions identified above with clinical support, educational programs and utilization reports? 10) Willing to provide volume discounts and support a return goods policy. 11) Willing to provide and assist in a plan of implementation, including a conversion chart to show competitors like items. If your company currently holds a Distribution and Pricing Agreement (DAPA) for the Medical-Surgical product line for HOSPITAL PLASTICS, your company is eligible to participate in this standardization effort for this region. If your company is not a current DAPA holder for this product line, you may be eligible to participate in the standardization effort for this region by contacting the Defense Supply Center, Philadelphia (DSCP), Mr. John Charalabidis at (215) 737-7124 or e-mail at (jcharalabidis@dla.mil) to apply for a DAPA. Your company can be considered once DAPA paperwork is pending at DSCP. Distribu tion of these products for the MTFs will be accomplished through Cardinal Health, the DoD Medical-Surgical Prime Vendor for Region 6, 7 & 8. After you have notified the POC of your intent to participate, the POC will advise you of the next steps to take. If your company can provide these products, please forward literature of all items available from your company that meet the product descriptions above and any corresponding product literature no later than April 28, 2006. Those companies that do not repl y by this date may be eliminated from consideration. If the CPT recommends a company, the TRBO may request sales data to facilitate a conversion plan. This information will be treated as proprietary and not releasable. Suppliers may be required to provide clinical samples for clinical evaluations at no cost to the government.
