Description

The intent of this contract is to accomplish fuels reduction treatments. Specifically the reduction of standing vegetation fuel ladders, tree thinning, and removal of biomass and small sawlog material. Work activities are to be accomplished utilizing a cut-to-length (CTL) harvester and log forwarder (or equipment capable of performing the same objectives with equal or less impact on the environment) over dry ground or over snow. Chipping of slash and other biomass or whole tree forwarding of small trees and top portions of larger trees will be required. Slash that is forwarded to landings (limbs, tops, small boles) shall be removed or chipped by Contractor; landing slash disposal will be the responsibility of the Contractor. The project is located in two areas. The Timberland portion is off Highway 89, 4 miles south of Tahoe City, California. The Ward portion is located in Ward Canyon (Alpine Meadows Subdivision) at the end of Twin Peaks Road off Highway 89. Solicitation will be available approximately May 5, 2006. Bid open date will be approximately June 2, 2006. Starting date is approximately June 15, 2006. There will a pre-bid meeting held at LTBMU Supervisor?s Office, 35 College Drive, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150 on May 16, 2006 at 10:00 a.m.
