- Request Statement The U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) seeks information regarding existing commercial roll on/roll off (RO/RO) capacity from a fully crewed U.S. flag vessel(s). Desired Capabilities MARAD is seeking 300,000 militarily useful sq.ft of commercial RO/RO capacity from a fully crewed U.S. flag vessel(s) ready to load at a U.S. port within 10 to 15 days. Militarily useful is defined as follows: Decks must have 350 psf (medium decks) or 550 psf (heavy decks) with an overhead clearance of at least 9'-6". Ramps must handle a minimum SWL of 70 long tons, using a safety factor of 2. Submittals To assist us in our review process, please provide the following information in your submittal: 1. How many ships would be needed to meet the capacity? 2. Estimated number of days for each ship to be at a U.S. load port (East, West or Gulf Coast). 3. Proposed term of commitment. 4. Estimated per diem charges. 5. Estimated costs of activation/deactivation. 6. Any additional anticipated costs. 7. Identify ports on East, West or Gulf Coast accessible within a 10 to 15-day timeframe. 8. Additional terms and conditions necessary to enter into this type of commitment. Submittals should be addressed via e-mail to acquisitions.marad@dot.gov and must be received by 4pm EDT on April 19, 2006.
