PACIFIC SALMON VISITOR INFORMATION CENTER WILDLIFE DISPLAY 1. SCOPE OF WORK The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, travel, and facilities required to prepare a design concept and production for a wildlife interpretive display for the Pacific Salmon Visitor Information Center in accordance with the attached s pecifications. Project Management includes full-time coordination of all work, quality control, on-site meetings, reviews, planning and research documents, all phases of planning and design work, production. The US Army Corps of Engineers (COE) requires contract services to design and fabricate a display for the Pacific Salmon Visitor Information Center at McNary Lock and Dam Umatilla Oregon. The purpose of this display is to provide the visiting public with information pertaining to the natural resource management mission of, the US Army Corps of Engineers principles that guide this work and the methods used to accomplish the mission. The disp lay shall be designed based on the specifications listed below: a. The map and display will cover an area from the I-82 bridge and Umatilla Oregon which is located immediately downstream of McNary Dam on the Columbia River, upriver to Richland Washington on the Columbia River and the I-182 bridge at the confluence of t he Yakima and Columbia. b. Incorporating interpretive text provided by the Corps, the contractor will be asked to design and fabricate the display to fit an area 5 ft. high by 16 ft. long based on the specifications defined here. c. The display will identify 7 Habitat Management Units (HMUs) that are managed by the COE, and 6 wildlife areas managed by the US Department of Fish and Wildlife. d. The map should be created using standardized cartographic elements but to a degree that will not distract from the primary content of the display. e. The map will include primary and secondary roads as well as cities and towns relevant to providing a general idea how to reach the areas shown on the map. f. The display will include of six (6) photographs of wildlife native to the area. Include three (3) outdoor recreation activity photographs of people fishing, hiking, bird watching. The size of the photographs will be a minimum 6x 8 inches a size appr opriate to the space available. The contractor can attain photographs themselves or request from COE photo files. g. The interpretive design industry standard for the font size and style for all interpretive text associated with this display should be used. The US Army Corps of Engineers requires the contractor to provide a draft for review prior final product is produced and delivered. 3. TEXT SPECIFICATIONS a. Text Block One: Working alongside other agencies, the US Army Corps of Engineers is one of our nations premier natural resource management agencies and provider of outdoor recreation opportunities. b. Text Block Two: To fulfill its role as a steward of our nations natural resources, the US Army Corps of Engineers follows seven environmental principles established by the Chief of Engineers Lt. General Robert Flowers in 2003. c. Text Block Three: These principles focus on the importance of conservation, environmental preservation and restoration. d. Text Block Four: The Principles. 1. Strive to achieve environmental sustainability. 2. Recognize the interdependence of life and the physical environment. 3. Seek balance between human development and the natural environment through actions that allows them to support and enable one another. 4. Accept responsibility for Corps activities and decisions that impact humans and natural systems. 5. Seek ways to mitigate impacts on the environment. 6. Collect and share scientific, economic and social knowledge that enables us to understand the impacts of our work on the environment. 7. Respect and listen to individuals and groups interested in Corps activities in order to gain new perspectives on how to protect and enhance to environment. f. Text Block Five: At McNary Dam in the Walla Walla District of the US Army Corps of Engineers, some of these principles can be seen in action in the Habitat Management Units. These areas cover 25000 acres of land and are home to a multitude of plants an d animals. SHIPMENT AND DELIVERY All items shall be delivered FOB Destination to the project within 30 days of contract award. The Supplier shall be responsible for packing and shipping the components in a manner that will ensure undamaged and complete arrival to project. No shipments are allowed other than normal business hours of Monday-Thursday 6:30 AM  5:00 PM, excluding holidays.
