The U.S. Geological Survey has a requirement for one (1) Quadrupole Inductively Couples Plasma Mass Spectrometer. The ICP-MS can contain either a 27 MHz or a 40 MHz rf generator. The instrument will be used for laser ablation ICP-MS trace element analyses for a wide variety of applications. In addition, the ICP-MS shall be to operate in a fully automated fashion, with user supervision for automatic analyses of up to 1000 samples in a single session from a New Wave Research or CETAC laser ablation (LA) system (already in operation in the USGS lab). Real-time graphics need to display the elements of interest on a single graph as viewed in real-time for transient signals from within the instrument control software. Also, the ICP-MS shall handle large amounts of solid sampling by LA without serious contamination of the interface region or ion optics. Optional Item: The ICP-MS shall be equipped with or able to be field upgraded to a collision or reaction gas cell that is located after the gate valve and between the analyzer quadrupole and the ion optics and reduces backgrounds and removes interferences for at least the following elements: P, S, Ca, Cr, Fe, V, As, Se, Rb, Rh, Te, Cd, and Nb. The collision or reaction cell shall handle a variety of cell gases including but not limited to H2, He, CH4, O2, NH3 and CH3F. The delivery shall be FOB destination to Denver, Colorado. The solicitation can be found at the following Webb address: http://ideasec.nbc.gov Telephone requests will not be accepted. It is anticipated the RFQ will be available on or after April 24, 2006.
