Description
The U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity is soliciting for clinical research support of the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center Breast Center and the Comprehensive Breast Care Project at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Department of S urgery, Comprehensive Breast Center. The contractor will integrate enrollment of patients in designated protocols in conjunction with patient care in the Breast Center and other areas of the hospital as indicated; assist in the development of the data inp ut tools, the database and the ultimate data warehouse; communicate information about patients who are enrolled in protocols and specific instructions about specimen preparation to members of the Breast Center, resident physicians, Ambulatory Procedure Uni t, and main Operating Room; provide and coordinate Clinical Breast Care Project (CBCP) research activities for the removal of specimens and post operation analysis; provide input for developing the data collection and input procedures; ensure protocol requ irements and directives are followed as written; plan, coordinate, and ensure data is collected for activities related to follow-up requirements such as blood draws and questionnaires; provide input for development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) that relate to patient care and the collection of and recording of research data; represent the nursing section for research related issues at meetings called by the Director, CBCP and Medical Administrator, CBCP; work in a collegial role with the staff pathologist to support the CBCP for changes that occur relating to handling specimens and the recording of the research data obtained from specimens; participate in any or all aspects of new protocol development, revisions of current ones, including providing feedback to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) as requested; identify Public Relations and promotional opportunities for promoting the research possibilities of the CBCP with the military and medical communities; and collaborate with the staff at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC) Comprehensive Breast Center on issues related to providing patient care and research activities. Only U.S. Citizens shall be employed under this contract to work within Landstuhl Regional Medical Ce nter facilities. The Status of Forces Agreement is applicable. This contract may require the utilization of Technical Expert Status Agreement (TESA) personnel to be employed by the Contractor. The period of performance is for a base period of 12 months and two 12-month option periods. RFP No. W81XWH-06-R-0016 is planned for release on or about 10 April 2006. HARD COPIES OF THE SOLICITATION WILL NOT BE PROVIDED. The responsibility lies with all interested parties to check the above address frequently for any posted changes to the solicitation. Questions must be submitted electronically no later than 12:00 p.m. 20 April 2006 in accordance with the instructions to offerors in solicitation W81XWH-06-R-0016. Proposals due 4:00 p.m. 5 May 2006.
