- The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center San Diego (SSC SD) is conducting a market survey to determine the interest and capability of Industry to participate in a competitive acquisition for providing a 10w, lightweight, diesel-powered portable generator set (genset). The unit will be mounted on a military trailer and must provide full, continuous power in temperatures ranging from minus twenty (-20) degrees Fahrenheit to one hundred twenty (120) degrees Fahrenheit. It must operate in inclement weather, including rain and snow. It must withstand lateral and vertical accelerations of 5 G???s during transport. The genset must provide 10 kilowatt output power, at 240VAC, 60Hz, single phase and must be less than or equal to 650 pounds with all fluids except fuel. The genset should not contain a fuel tank and the overall size must not exceed a length of 42 inches and a width of 26 inches. The center of mass for the genset should not be higher than 24 inches from the base. The genset must allow for remote control of starting and stopping, remote monitoring of status; must use a 12VDC starting battery; the inlet filter must be easy to service; and, if the air inlet contains sound damping cavities or chambers, they must be accessible for cleaning. The genset must produce less than or equal to 85 db noise measured at 3- feet away under full load. This sources sought announcement does not constitute a commitment, implied or otherwise, to procure any equipment. Interested firms capable of supplying generator set are invited to submit responses not to exceed ten (10) pages, within fifteen (15) days after publication of this notice. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 335312 and the business size standard is 1000 employees. The information statements to be submitted are not expected to be proposals and will be used for technical planning purposes only. Responses are to include the following: (1) name and address of firm; (2) name, telephone and facsimile number of point of contact; (3) NAICS Code; and (4) explanation of company experience, proficiency and background in work related to the requirement listed, and existing contract vehicles (including GSA contractors) which may be utilized in this procurement. Interested firms are requested to submit Information Statements electronically by 4:00 p.m. PST on 26 April 2006 to the POC e-mail address.
