Description

The U.S. Geological Survey, Florida Integrated Science Center, St. Petersburg, FL, has a requirement for a non-competitive award via written request for Quotation No. 06ER30-No Solicitation to Dr. Staci Simonich, Department of Environmental and Molecular Toxicology, Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon, for clean sample media and analysis of persistent organic pollutants in air samples from Africa (Republic of Mali, Republic of Cape Verde) and the Caribbean region (Trinidad-Tobago, U.S. Virgin Islands). The work is being performed for the USGS Global Dust Project to understand the effects of African dust air masses on downwind ecosystems and human health. It is essential to identify and quantify the contaminants so that the toxicity of aerosols as well as the vapor phase of air masses can be tested against marine organisms. The data will be used by USGS at external professional meetings and in scientific publications associated with the Global Dust investigations. The work requires a state-of-the-art pesticide analytical laboratory and experience in developing methods for analysis of persistent organic pollutants. Consistency in data sampling is essential to maintaining the integrity of the Project. Timeliness is also a factor for ensuring data integrity. THIS NOTICE IS FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. The anticipated award date is April 19, 2006, under the Simplified Acquisition threshold of $100,000.00. NAICS is 541990.
