Construction cost for the Project is estimated to be between $1-$5 million. The Building 6 Seismic Upgrade Project will involve the rehabilitation of the Advanced Light Source dome structure to a ?good? seismic rating, as defined by the University of California Seismic Safety policy. The University seismic requirements can be found at: http://www.ucop.edu/facil/resg/seismic-safety/welcome.html The Advanced Light Source is a national research user facility that operates 24/7. The construction work performed for this project will need to be phased, and each phase coordinated with scheduled maintenance shutdowns. The scope of work will include the rehabilitation of diagonal braces, building columns, repair of damaged columns, retrofitting of polar crane base isolation, and foundation repair, as needed. Professional design services for phasing and coordination of the construction work within an occupied, operating facility. 4. Professional Engineering services during the construction phase. 5. Attendance at meetings scheduled for design reviews, construction support, and coordination. B. PROJECT SCOPE SUMMARY A selected firm will provide preliminary design and estimating services, construction documents and cost estimating services, engineering services and support during construction for the Building 6 Seismic Upgrade Project. Construction will involve selective demolition, temporary and permanent structural modifications, site utility relocation or replacement. C. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS In order to qualify, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements: 1. Location: The primary firm (structural engineering) and sub-consultants (electrical, mechanical engineering) must maintain a local office within seventy-five (75) air miles of Berkeley, California and must assign a principal to lead the effort on behalf of the firm from the local office. All other sub-consultants must be located within the United States. 2. Design Team: It is expected that the following specialized expertise will be represented by the proposing teams: a.
