Description
NAICS Code: 541710 THIS IS A PRE-SOLICITATION SYNOPSIS FOR STUDENT LABORATORY SERVICES TO BE HIRED ON A CONTRACT BASIS BY THE US ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY. The solicitation number is ORDPS/XQ4H21 (RFQ-RT-06-00107). The Agency has a requirement for a student contractor to work with the Ecotoxicology Team to develop a transferable Two-Generation toxicity test guideline using Sheepshead Minnow Cyprinodon variegatus. Some of the projects for which the student contractor is needed involves establishing, organizing, and maintaining culture, exposure and other scientific systems; collecting, culturing, feeding and maintaining experimental organisms, measuring, maintaining, and documenting test conditions and parameters; measuring and documenting the condition of test specimens before, during, and following experimental treatments, and assisting in preparing scientific manuscripts and reports. The student contractor must have completed an undergraduate degree in biology, chemistry, environmental science, marine biology or closely related field within the past year, from an accredited college/university. The student must be familiar with basic laboratory health and safety. The student will be given additional safety training at the Gulf Ecology Division. This work is to begin approximately early May 2006 and will last 12 months with one additional 12-month option period. The total period of performance shall not exceed 24 months. It is anticipated the student contractor may work up to 40 hours per week. The principal duty station location is the EPA, 1 Sabine Island Drive, Gulf Breeze, FL 32561. Work will be performed primarily in an office setting. The contract for 12 months will represent an estimate of 1928 hours of effort.
