Interested potential sources are requested to only provide questios, comments, and/or recommendations pertinent to the documents attached to this posting. Handheld and other human-portable radiation detection devices (Human Portable Radiation Detection Systems (HPRDS)) are used by various Government entities to detect and identify nuclear materials in cargo, luggage, mail, and packages. These HPRDS are a critical inspection tool at numerous venues. Attached to this announcement are draft documents representing the current planned solicitation and specifications to meet the program requirements for the next generation of HPRDS. It is requested that interested potential sources review the attached draft documents and provide questions/comments in spreadsheet format by 4:00 pm, EST, 29 March 2006. The Government may publish responses to applicable questions/comments on these documents with the final solicitation. Note that this is not a formal request for proposal. There are currently no funds available for this project and the Government will not make award or develop a source list based on responses to this Request for Information (RFI). DHS will not reimburse any preparation costs associated with responses to this RFI. Interested potential sources are encouraged to review the draft documents and provide comments and recommendations for addition, change, or deletion, especially in regards to cost-effective pricing arrangements. It is the Respondent’s responsibility to periodically revisit this website for notices, amendments, updates, questions and answers and changes to the posted information. The following attachments are available under this RFI: Attachment 1: Draft Solicitation, Attachment 2: Draft Performance Specification for Human Portable Radiation Detection Systems (HPRDS), Attachment 3: Draft American National Standard Data Format Standard for Radiation Detectors Used for Homeland Security, and Attachment 4: Draft Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP) for Human Portable Radiation Detection System (HPRDS).
