Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to issue a sole source firm fixed priced purchase order to Radix Bio Solutions, Georgetown, TX, the only known provider for the production of multiplexed sample assay for the detection of botulinum toxins A, B, E, and F (select agents) which must be produced and delivered by April 2006. The National Botulism Surveillance and Reference Unit (NBSRU) received funding to initiate the development of reagent production of an in vitro multitarget immunoassay (xMAP assay) to detect botulinum toxins types A, B, E, and F while simultaneously using the Bio-Plex platform. Radix Bio Solutions is a licensed strategic partner of Luminex Corporation for the development and sale of assays that utilize the Luminex proprietary xMAP platform. In addition, the development, by Radix Bio Solutions, of an x MAP assay which detects botulinum toxins A, B, E, and F will maintain consistency between the previously developed xMAP assays used by CDC and the assays developed via this requirement.
