Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers  Chicago District is conducting a Market Survey to identify potential sources that currently possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience necessary to meet the requirements for implementation of Wet/Wet-mesic Prairie and Wet Savanna at Little Calumet River in Northwest Indiana. THIS Sources Sought notice will be used for planning purposes only. This notice does not constitute an Invitation for Bid or Request for Proposal and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The Government will not reimburse contractors for any cost incurred for their participation in this survey. Large and small businesses are encouraged to participate in this survey. BACKGROUND: The project will constitute partial fulfillment of mitigation requirements for two flood control projects in northwest Indiana; the Little Calumet River levee project that follows the Little Calumet River from the Illinois-Indiana state line eastward to Interstate Highway 65 and the Cady Ditch deep tunnel project at Arbogast Street in Griffith, Indiana. The Contractor will be responsible for the following: Clean Debris from two clogged 48-inch diameter reinforced concrete pipes and from one 36-inch diameter reinforced concrete pipe. Install four new trash rack grates, one at each end of two previously-installed 48-inch flared-end reinforced concrete pipes. Install a new 36-inch reinforced concrete pipe, flap gate and trash rack beneath a utility right-of-way berm. Expand three earthern berms for a total of approximately 425 cubic yards. Restore 2 acres of native wet savanna, to including clearing, herbiciding and removal of invasive woody and herbaceous plant material and the seeding, planting, monitoring and maintenance of native plant species. Monitor and maintain the 2-acre wet savanna planting for a period of 5 years after the installation year, six years from the award date of the proposed contract, or until performance standards have been met. Assume the monitoring and maintenance responsibilities for a 2-year-old wetland restoration project consisting of 53 acres of wet/wet-mesic prairie and 36 of wet savanna, for a total of 89 acres of wetland restoration. The monitoring and maintenance per iod will extend for three years from the award date of the proposed contract or until performance standards have been achieved. PLEASE SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION DESCRIBED BELOW: 1. Description of the education and experience of the Project Manager, the Site Supervisor and field staff. 2. Description of three (3) natural area restorations, including a discussion of the type of project, size of the project in acres and cost, completed by the interested firm. 3.
