Description

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) intends to have Shu-Rong Yin, on a sole source basis, to develop methods to culture human tissues in RWV Bioreactor that maintain their three dimensional tissue cytoarchitecture and preserve their differential status; develop methods of quantitation of spirochete load in infected tissues to evaluate the infection of the cultured tissues with Borrelia; use various molecular biology techniques to follow genetic variation of infectious spirochetes during a long-term tissue culture and study the differences between infectious wild type Borelia and non-infectious laboratory strains of this pathogen in order to understand underlying Borrelia. Authority: 41 U.S.C. 253 (c) (1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or service will satisfy agency requirements. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within 22 days after publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
