Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to award a purchase order on a sole source basis to the New England Aquarium Corporation, Boston, MA, under the authority of FAR 13.106 1(b), soliciting from a single source. The object of this requirement is to provide collection, processing, completed specimen data forms for specimens from 26 marine mammals for the National Marine mammal Tissue Bank. The results of market research have resulted in a determination that the New England Aquarium Corporation appears to be the only source for these tissue samples. They possess the necessary protocol instruments and necropsy facilities that meet the NIST specimen banking criteria and they are located in the New England area which allows for fresher specimen collection from stranded marine mammals in the New England region. The anticipated award date of this order is on or about fifteen (15) days from the date of this notice. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. Interested parties that believe they can satisfy the requirement to provide to noted system may provide evidence to so indicate no later than the response date noted above. A determination by the Government whether to compete this proposed purchase order is solely within the discretion of the Government.
