Description
Note: The due date has been changed from 05/27/06 to 05/12/06 1. The contractor shall conduct an on-going collaborative study regarding nonsyndromic hereditary hearing impairment among families in Pakistan. 2. The contractor shall have at least ten (10) years of experience in determining genetic causes in deafness. 3. The contractor shall gather the necessary data, blood samples, and other research on genetic causes of deafness. This information shall include, but shall not be limited to, genetic materials, and detailed records of his/her research on data from affected families to determine the genetic causes of deafness. 4. The contractor shall examine materials received by the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) to assure proper quality and suitability for enrollment in the study. Materials shall include, but shall not be limited to the following: Genotyping. DNA samples. Examined copies of Informed Consents. SLINK pedigree analysis. 5. The contractor shall send DNA samples from all families that are enrolled in the study to the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics (LMG) for analysis, along with a copy of the signed Informed Consent for each participant. 6. The contractor shall provide enrollment of new families in Pakistan for further research on hereditary deafness. This enrollment shall include, but shall not be limited to approximately one hundred (100) new families with nonsyndromic hearing loss. 7. The contractor shall have at least ten (10) years of experience in mapping genes in families from Pakistan. 8. The contractor shall, in some instances, conduct extensive clinical testing to better understand if a clinical manifestation of a particular mutation in an organ other than that of hearing is present. 9. The contractor shall provide and forward to the LMG detailed clinical reports, and shall also provide a performance plan for the project to include, but shall not be limited to the following: Informed consent, along with copies of consents. Audiograms. Family histories and genealogies. Other pertinent information, along with DNA, or blood mouth swabs. Initial analysis of genotypes for known deafness causing loci. 10. The contractor shall forward blood samples and or DNA samples from family members to the NIDCD, Bethesda, MD. 11. The contractor shall provide to potential families through personal contact, information regarding the study. 12. The contractor shall comply with regulations regarding confidentiality of the names entrusted to his/her care. 13. The government will provide carrier status on the families enrolled in the study. 14. The period of performance shall be from May 1, 2006 to April 30, 2007. It is the Government?s belief that the above requirements can only be met by the National Center for Excellence in Molecular Biology. This is not a formal solicitation, however business concerns that respond to this notice must furnish concise responses directed specifically to the requirements mentioned above. Business concerns demonstrating the capability to accomplish the requirements shall supply pertinent information in the form of curriculum vitae in sufficient detail to demonstrate their ability to perform. Information furnished shall include enough material to perform a proper evaluation of each item listed above. Respondents will not be notified of the evaluation results.
