Description

Reclamation requires the modernization of six (6) elevators at Grand Coulee Dam, Grand Coulee Project, WA. The pre-solicitation notice for Solicitation No. 06SP101631 is available. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this action is 238290; the industry description is "Other Building Equipment Contractors". The small business size standard is $13.0M in gross annual receipts averaged over the previous three 1-year accounting periods. The principal components of the work include replacement and modernization of control systems, replacement of motors, replacement of traveling electrical cables, replacement of wire ropes, making elevators ADA/ABA AG compliant, HVAC work for the elevator machine room, HVAC work for the elevator shaft, wiring work for power supplies, and disposal of removed equipment. 3 elevators provide access from within portions of Grand Coulee Dam to the top of the dam. The remaining 3 elevators are within the project's Pumping Plant adjacent to the dam. A site visit will be conducted in accordance with the clause in Section L entitled "Site Visit - Construction". Bidders are strongly urged to participate in the site visit. Failure by offerors to inspect the site will not relieve them of the responsibility of properly estimating the difficulty or cost of successfully performing the work in accordance with the specifications and within the allowed time. The solicitation will be issued approximately May 15, 2006, and will only be available for downloading directly from the following website: http://www.usbr.gov/pn/contracts/1631. Telephone requests for the solicitation will not be accepted. We reserve the right to issue the solicitation on paper or CD-ROM if it becomes necessary.
