- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Written quotations are being requested. Quotes may be submitted on the Standard Form 18 (Request for Quotation). Small Business Standard size: NAICS 334516 Standard Size: 500 Floor-model centrifuge Justification: A floor-model, refrigerated centrifuge is required to support several research tasks in building 47/49; this is a replacement for a centrifuge damaged beyond repair by Hurricane Ivan. Specifications: A digital display must continuously indicate both the ?set? and ?run? (time of run, temperature during run, variable speeds during acceleration, run, and deceleration) conditions during operation and time remaining during a timed cycle; A timer and ancillary components are required that allow full cycles to run continuously for up to 2 hours and allow at least two changes in speed during a cycle; the timer readout must be digital; Centrifuge must have an Automatic Relative Centrifugal Force or g-force (RCF); allows the machine to calculate the gravitation/centrifugal force for any combination using different size rotors at various speed settings; Run-to-run reproducibility in cycle time and speed must not exceed  1% variance, for quality control; Ability to set rate control for acceleration and deceleration phases to preserve density gradient and minimize pellet disruption upon completion of the cycle; Maintain temperatures between -20 to + 40 o C. Temperature variation during a spin cycle must be maintained to within + 1 o C and temperature must reach set temperatures within 10 minutes after being set; Rotor speeds from 50 to 21,000 rpm controlled to + 100 rpm and to within 1% of set conditions; Standard centrifuge floor model on wheels (approx 45 height by 30 width by 33 depth in inches; dimensions can vary by + 6? in either direction); Electrical configuration must approximate 208V, 60 Hz, 30 Amp, single phase; Must accommodate the following rotors as these rotors are available in the laboratory and fit the current supply of centrifuge tubes: Sorvall SA-600, Sorvall SS-34, Sorvall GS-3, Sorvall GSA, Sorvall HB-6, Sorvall HS-4.
