Description
The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) is presenting a pre-proposal meeting for the next phase of its academic computational science program that will focus on the goal of ?Predictive Science.? The program, called Predictive Science Academic Alliance Program (PSAAP), will be funded by NNSA?s Advanced Simulation and Computing (ASC) program and coordinated with the three NNSA National Laboratories (Lawrence Livermore, Los Alamos, and Sandia). PSAAP is the third cycle of the program, and builds from the ASC Academic Strategic Alliances Program (ASAP). In the first two cycles, ASAP helped the university partners develop multi-departmental teams that defined the forefront of academic multi-scale computational science. The goal is to have impacts on the academic community as ASAP did, with computational science emerging as a discipline integrated into the universities? educational efforts and enabling fundamental research advancements across multiple disciplines. The PSAAP program pre-proposal meeting will be held May 16-17, 2006 to announce the Request for Information (RFI) phase of the program, to present the background on PSAAP, and to discuss with interested proposers the science areas and application domains of particular interests to NNSA. The competition is expected to culminate with awards in place by the beginning of FY08. Further details on the May 2006 pre-proposal meeting, the program itself and draft RFI can be found at the PSAAP web site, http://www.llnl.gov/asci/alliances/psaap.
