- The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) intends to issue a non-competitive modification to an existing contract with Viral Antigens, Inc., 5171 Wilfong Road, Memphis, TN 38134, for the additional production of clinical grade parvovirus B19 vaccine. This additional material is needed to fulfill recent FDA requirements for protocol changes, safety studies and additional testing. This is a synopsis for commercial items, as defined in FAR Part 2. Viral Antigens, Inc. is the only known source capable of providing the additional production of clinical grade parvovirus B19 vaccine. This action is under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), as set forth in FAR Part 6.302-1 and HHSAR 306-302-1, Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This is a total small business set-aside requirement. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract modification based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct future competitive procurements. Responses to this notice, referencing contract number N01-HB-3-7167, must be submitted in writing to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, Office of Acquisitions, Procurement Branch, Rockledge Building 2, Suite 6148, 6701 Rockledge Drive, Bethesda, Maryland 20892-7902, Attention: Ms. Melissa Lombardo, Contract Specialist.
