Description
1. GENERAL The contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment and material for the shipment of perishable meat product. The DeCA Central Meat Processing Plant (CMPP) is responsible for providing perishable meat products to the Keflavik Commissary (Iceland). The CMPP produces the meat product weekly; packs and ices the products and seals in insulated air boxes; weighs each box; and prepares the Customs Declaration (Form 302) and Veterinarian Health Certificates. The air boxes and documentation will be forw arded to the Central Distribution Center- Kaiserslautern (CDC-K) on Wednesday evenings for subsequent cross-docking onto refrigerated containers destined to be shipped on Thursdays to Shinnen (Belgium) or Chievres (Holland) (based on space availability). T he container would be routed to the Liege Airport (B4460, Grace Hollogne, Swissport Building 84) for air shipment to Iceland on Fridays. From Icelands air terminal, the products will need to be transported to the Commissary (Building 720), Naval Air Station Keflavik. 2. PROJECTED INFORMATION Approximately 3,000 pounds (1,500 kg) of perishable meat products will be shipped each week. The meat will be packed in PAL- Styrofoam insulated air shipping boxes (dimensions: 1.09 x 0.90 x 0.82m L/W/H). Approximately 6-8 boxes (at 22 kg each box) are involved. The products will be packed and protected for at least 78 hours with either water ice (four blocks at 50 pounds in plastic/carton container) or dry ice or both. The cargo shipment will be accompanied with the necessary documents and forms prepared by CMPP personnel. 3. CONTRACTORS REQUIREMENTS Contractor shall coordinate delivery times for cargo to arrive at Lieges; prepare the Air Way Bill (AWB) based on documentation accompanying the shipment; arrange flight booking; notify ultimate consignee (Keflavik Commissary) of shipment arrival; and co ordinate delivery to the Keflavik Commissary. Because of the multi-stop nature of delivery, upon arrival of the truck at Lieges air terminal, the contractor shall promptly spot the container and offload the cargo. Shipping boxes will have to be placed in chill/freeze facility at no additional char ges to the US government. Upon arrival of the aircraft at Iceland, the contractor will load the cargo onto a trailer and deliver the cargo the Keflavik Commissary, building 720. The contractor will obtain the customerss (Commissary Keflavik) signature to confirm receipt of the delivery and will use this receipt to accompany the invoice for payment.
