- 21 Apr 06 Market Survey Next Generation Line Haul Systems 1. Next Generation Line Haul Systems. The Product Manager, Heavy Tactical Vehicles (PM HTV) located at the United States Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (TACOM) in Warren, Michigan is currently seeking?to identify sources that are capable of ma nufacturing vehicles for the?Next Generation Line Haul?Systems Family of Vehicles consisting of tractors, trucks, and trailers.? The vehicles that comprise the Next Generation Line Haul System-of Systems Family of Vehicles will possess capabilities that wi ll be similar but not necessarily limited to the requirements specified in the draft Army Technical Purchase Descriptions (ATPD) listed below: a. Draft ATPD 2362 - Truck Tractor, Line Haul, 58,000 LBS GVWR, 6X4 b. Draft ATPD 2364 - Truck Tractor, Light Equipment Transporter (LET), 74,000 LBS GVWR, 6X6 c. Draft ATPD 2365 - Semi-trailer, Flatbed, Multi-functional d. Draft ATPD 2363 - Load Handling System (LHS),?Line Haul f. In addition, the Next Generation Line Haul Family of Vehicles will also include the following variants: (1) Truck, Dump, Heavy, 6X6, 14 Cubic Yard (2) Light Equipment Utility Trailer, 12 ton, Pintle Towed (3) Semi-trailer, tanker, 7500 gallons (4) Semi-trailer, Lowbed, capable of hauling up to 40 tons These systems are planned to operate as a part of the Line Haul Systems and will have characteristics consistent with the Next Generation Line Haul Systems Family of Vehicles. 2. Line Haul Systems Requirements. The Next Generation Line Haul System-of-Systems acquisition strategy approach promises to increase the efficiency of line haul distribution and to address the needs of the Expeditionary Armys distribution-based logis tics system. The System of Systems approach links all the tractors and trailer components of the line haul system into one program allowing a single source to integrate these components to meet the system requirements. The Next Generation Line Haul Syste ms will share common goals, interfaces, and resources. Examples of the attributes the Army is seeking to be included in the family include: a. Distribution. Seeking features that provide for one man operation and organic self load/on load capabilities. b. Force Sustainment. Seeking features that provide low weight, commonality among the models, and growth potential. c. Mobility. Seeking features that provide ride quality at top end speeds over secondary roads and trails. d. Network Centricity. Seeking features that provide a single computer that operates vehicle components, vehicle data reporting and a wide range of military requirements, such as situational awareness, global positioning system, and vehicle tracking system. e. Operational range. Seeking features that increase powertrain efficiency. f. Reliability. Seeking features that improve ease of maintenance and diagnostics and prognostics, and provides wireless component health monitoring. g. Safety. Seeking features that improve lateral stability and crash protection. h. Survivability. Seeking features that provide cab protection that defeats the threat and has capability for a crew served weapon platform. 3. Market Survey Request. This market surveys purpose is to determine industry capability to providing the line haul systems tractors, trucks and trailers under a family concept. If interested, please furnish your detailed response to this market surv ey and technical information questionnaire. In addition, you may provide any supplemental information or commercial literature describing the human factors, engineering, safety, supportability, quality, cost, product availability or other information not specifically requested that you feel would be useful t o us. The Government does NOT wish to obtain any proprietary or otherwise protected documents as a result of this market survey. The tractors and trucks are required to have armor protection that affords a degree of ballistic protection to be determined by the Government for the operator and passenger. The ballistics protection to be installed on production vehicles includes a rmor parts determined to be hard to install after production and permanent mounting provisions designed to accept armor components installed as necessary in the field.
