Description
The 25TH ASC will be a significant milestone for the Army Science and Technology (S&T) community - 50 years of promoting and showcasing the Army's S&T program. The theme of the 25TH ASC is 'Transformational Army Science and Technology-Charting the f uture of S&T for the Soldier.' The ASC is a biennial event inaugurated in 1957 to provide a forum for the presentation and open discussion of ideas and results, and recognition of accomplishments by Army scientists and engineers. The conference attracts overwhelming interest and support from the Army's science and technology (S&T) community. Over 1600 representatives from the U.S. Government, academia, industry and more than 30 Nations are expected to attend the 25TH Army Science Conference. The ASC fea tures presentations of technical papers and posters judged the best among those submitted by scientists and engineers (S&Es), as well as keynote talks and sessions involving S&T leaders from the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Army, international part ners, academia and industry. Authors of the most outstanding technical papers will be selected to receive special recognition and awards; an International Collaboration Award will bbe inaugurated with this silver anniversary conference. Seven of these Army-sponsored Nobel Laureates have accepted invitations to speak at the 25TH ASC. They will devote some of their presentations to expounding upon promising areas for research and technology investments that will enable future capabilities for o ur Soldiers. An eighth Nobel Laureate will present his views on the challenges in science, mathematics and engineering education currently facing the United States and share his recommendations on how we can best address this most vital issue for the futu re of our nation.
