Description

NIOSH, Pittsburgh Research Laboratory, Mational Personal Protective Technology Laboratory, intends to award on a sole source basis, a purchase order to Intertek Testing Services NA Inc., the Design and Fabrication of an explosion barrier so that Intertek can conduct Flammability Benchmark Testing on Closed-Circuit Self Contained Breathing Apparatus in accordance with NFPA 1981 (Standard on Open-Circuit Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus for Fire and Emergency Services - 2002 Edition) Sections 7.11 and 8.11 and the attached proposal from Intertek dated 01/24/06. We are not aware of any independent testing laboratory that has the facilities and equipment to conduct the heat and flam testing in accordance with NFPA 1981.However, through this announcement, alternate sources are being offered the opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities to provide the product specifically identified above. Capabilities are to be received in the contracting office no later than fifteen (15) days from the date of this announcement, May 13, 2005.
