Description
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Acquisitions and Operations Branch (AMOB) is seeking sources that can house, feed and care for an estimated 116 Old World and/or New World nonhuman primates, 6 chimpanzees, and 12 small animals (e.g. rabbits) at all times. Offerors will also be required to perform annually approximately 22 six-week studies utilizing monkeys, 1 study utilizing chimpanzees and 4 small studies utilizing small animals. Most of the studies can be conducted at the ABSL2 level of containment, however offerors must be able to provide the ability to house and study up to 48 non-human primates at the ABSL3 level of containment. In order to facilitate exchange of samples, the offeror?s housing facility must be within 50 miles of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) campus located at 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, Maryland 20892. The NIAID intends to award a one-year contract with four (4) one-year options beginning on or about March 1, 2007. Interested parties must provide a capability statement which demonstrates that the offeror: has appropriate facilities available to house and care for the animals specified; can perform studies at both the ABSL2 and ABSL3 levels of containment; possess an AAALAC International file number, an OPRR Animal Welfare Assurance number, and a USDA R Registration (Class ?R? Research). This is not a request for proposals. The intention of this announcement is to survey the market for potential offerors. Capability statements must be submitted to Alexander Kramer at kramera@niaid.nih.gov on or before May 15, 2006 at 11:00am.
