Description: The U.S. Army Engineer District, New Orleans, has a requirement for a Contractor to inspection, maintenance, troubleshoot, analyze, overhaul and repair three (3) government owned, marine diesel ship service generator engines installed aboard the vess el Dredge Wheeler. The engines are CATERPILLAR, model 3516 with a rated speed of 1200 RPM, arrangement No. 1W4223, serial numbers: 73Z898, 73Z899, and 73Z900. Each engine drives one (1) KATO-AC, 1000 KW, two bearings generator. The contractor must be a Caterpillar's authorized service representative and possess the required technical ability and provide all supervision, qualified personnel as well as appropriate shop facility, equipment, tools, supplies, repair parts, spare parts, accessories, and other resources necessary to service the three engines mentioned above. The Dredge Wheeler is an all steel, diesel propelled, sea-going, trailing suction hopper dredge. Length overall 408 feet, 3 inches; maximum breadth82 feet, 0 inches; minimum draft Aft21 feet, 6 inches; minimum draft forward15 feet, 6 inches; lightship displacement9,876.25 long tons. Prospective offerors are encouraged to make a site visit prior to solicitation closing date. This solicitation is not set aside for small business. This re quirement will be procured as a base plus four option period contract. The NAICS code is 811310; the applicable Standard Industrial Code is 7699. Solicitation W912P8-06-R-0106 will be released on or about May 11, 2006 with a closing date of June 13, 200 6. All interested parties must be registered with FedTeDS to download the solicitation.
