- The Sergeant at Arms has a requirement for engineering services to perform key activities supporting the functions of the Senate?s current 802.11Wireless Network initiative. Specifically, the Vendor shall provide services and expertise in the technical assessment and ongoing implementation of an 802.11 wireless infrastructure based on Cisco Systems? network equipment and more specifically, the infrastructure surrounding the Wireless LAN Services Module (WLSM). This project includes engineering support for overall wireless networking design, including IP and VLAN design, security policies and firewall segmentation, and network management. The Vendor shall also assist with the engineering assessment of a migration plan from the current design based on Cisco?s WLCCP protocol to a network based on the emerging IEEE LWAPP standard. The primary objectives of this initiative will not include site survey and RF signal propagation, though the engagement may evolve to this area in the future. Work shall be performed on-site at the Capitol Hill campus comprising six major buildings and several smaller buildings or locations within buildings, and an alternate computing facility in the D.C. metropolitan area. Requirements: Failure to provide information on requested information or requirements below may result in disqualification of the vendor from further consideration by the SAA. Qualified vendors must show their ability to provide these services by providing: a) A resume(s) (limited to three pages) for the engineers(s) which must demonstrate each of the following abilities, qualifications and certifications for Engineer(s) assigned to this project: i. Have working experience in overall 802.11 wireless network design and implementation; ii. Display proficient experience in the configuration of Cisco routers and switches; iii. Display working knowledge and understanding of firewall operations; iv. Display an understanding of emerging wireless and related security standards; v. Display an understanding of client authentication and 802.1x techniques associated with wireless LAN access; vi. Assist in the design, configuration, and setup of a WLAN Lab; vii. Support operational and troubleshooting service center calls while working with the NOC and providing knowledge transfer of WLAN; and viii. Have the following certifications. CCIE CCNP CCSP Vendors should also provide any additional Wireless-related certifications or specializations relevant to this project. b) Three past performance references within the last two years in which the vendor has successfully provided the services for the engineering and implementation of an 802.11-based wireless infrastructure. References must be for infrastructures based on Cisco Systems? network equipment and specifically the Wireless LAN Services Module (WLSM). Each past performance references must provide: a) name of the customer or company; b) name and phone number of the primary contact with customer or company; c) brief description of contract; d) dates of services; and d) total contract value. INSTRUCTIONS: Responses to this sources sought request are due to the POC no later than May 15, 2006 at 12:00 Noon EDT and shall be submitted electronically via email only to the attention of Kathleen M. Haddow at acquisitions@saa.senate.gov. The subject line of the email message shall be SSN 2006-S-027. No other method of transmittal will be accepted. The response shall not exceed five (5) pages (excluding resumes). Pages over the page limitation may be discarded. Access by the SAA to information in any files attached to the response is the responsibility of the submitting party. Neither the SAA nor the Senate is responsible for any failure to access vendor?s information. The information supplied in response to this sources sought notice will be used to pre-qualify firms that may be invited to submit proposals. Vendors responding to this sources sought notice and deemed qualified by the SAA will be requested to submit a proposal in response to a solicitation. Only pre-qualified firms will be permitted to submit proposals. If suitable responses are received from qualified sources, the SAA anticipates release of a solicitation in late May 2006. Neither the SAA nor the Senate will be responsible for any costs for the preparation of responses to this request. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL.
